Health Checks

A general health check is an informative and investigative consultation that focuses on patient and parent education. Topics include diet, sleep, behaviour, habits, environmental factors and discipline. Parents will also be guided on how to deal with general illnesses, health maintenance and behaviour.

General health checks with Dr Sello S Machaea focus on doing a general health check of your child. Since growth is most rapid during infancy and early childhood, well-baby visits will be needed one week after mom and baby are discharged from the hospital and then again at 6 weeks, 4 months, 8 months, 12 months, and 18 months. From there annual visits to your paediatrician are sufficient unless your child has a medical emergency, an acute or chronic illness.

At each visit, the important issues of your child’s particular age are discussed. Dr Sello S Machaea will discuss immunisations, growth and development milestones, nutrition, sleeping patterns as well as behaviour, habits and discipline with you as parents so that you can be prepared for what is to come and how best to manage the challenges of parenthood. Common illnesses like common cold, ear infections, bronchiolitis, tonsillitis and smallpox will also be highlighted so you can look out for the symptoms.
