About Our Paediatric Surgeon
Dr. S Machaea
Dr. Sello Machaea completed his undergraduate degree in UKZN and then joined the General Surgery program shortly after the completion of his community service. He later joined the Paediatric Surgery training program in East London where he attained his fellowship degree in 2018 and subsequently his MMED.
He has an interest in research, minimally invasive, and colorectal surgery. Dr. Sello Machaea currently practises in the Paediatric Unit at East London Hospital and runs two other paediatric practices boasting a wide range of paediatric services. He is a gentle, kind, and compassionate paediatrician, dedicated to providing a paediatric service that upholds the best interests of the child, with a special interest in child neurodevelopment, allergies, nutrition and critical paediatric care.
We care for your kids, from Infancy all the way through to Adolescence.
About Our Practices
Consultations
Consultations are by appointment only. There is no need to be referred by a Paediatrician. If you think your child needs an operation, we are happy to see them.
In Case of Emergencies
Please contact the 24-hour emergency service at East London Hospital. Telephonic interaction between a Paediatric Surgeon and their patient cannot be accurately relayed over the phone. If there is a telephonic consultation that is deemed appropriate by the Surgeon, it will be billed accordingly.
Billing
Consultations must be paid for before leaving the rooms on the day of consultation. You may pay in cash or by card. You will be provided with an invoice to claim back from your medical aid. If your child requires surgery, we will bill your medical scheme and you will be responsible for payment of any shortfall after that. We do not have payment arrangements or discounted prices.
